Learning the Technique can improve your health and well-being on a physical, mental and emotional level
People of all ages take lessons because of any number of reasons:
- Tension and pain
- Poor posture
- Vocal and breathing problems
- Anxiety and stress
- Preparation for childbirth
- ease and lightness of movement and breathing
- reduction of pain,
- increased energy,
- feeling calmer and more confident.
The Technique is taught in many Music and Drama Schools. It is also used by sportsmen and women; and listed by NICE* as a key intervention for Parkinson’s Disease. A randomised controlled trial published in the British Medical Journal (2008) found that 24 one to one Alexander lessons significantly reduced the number of days of pain experienced by patients with chronic lower back pain: from 21 to 3 days per month.
It can be applied to all areas of our lives with the potential to help us do what we do with more ease, more confidence, and more enjoyment.
